They always brought the best chocolate, so although I have no travel tips...if you like chocolate make sure to try it there. :)The Nest Chapterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02631243285430796991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-546200409091211961.post-86946159211264717732012-09-01T11:19:31.205-04:002012-09-01T11:19:31.205-04:00Oh my goodness, Ayestria, you have been SO HELPFUL...Oh my goodness, Ayestria, you have been SO HELPFUL and I LOVE all of your Pinterest tips! It's very eye-opening.

Also, in Salzburg, there's an opportunity to go to the Fortress castle and hear a concert of some easily recognized classics by a small string orchestra. On the shopping street, I can't remember the name now, there is a little tunnel/alleyway (across from a Pizza by the slice place) that has a little stand where they have awesome sausage that my vegetarian MIL gave up her ways for!

I recommend a side trip out of Salzburg to Hellbrun Castle where there are the dancing fountains and some locations (the gazebo) from the Sound of Music.

Nuremburg is also a good day trip, as is Rothenburg. Nuremburg is a special city because you can really see the dichotomy of pre-WW2 and post WW2 in one place. Rothenburg has the Crime and Punishment Museum, the most intact Medieval wall, the best walking tour of the town with The Night Watchman, and tons of Christmas stores! Whew. In Rothenburg, you might want to get there in the early afternoon, and stay the night so you can catch that tour. Also, skip the Schneeballen. It's an amalgamation of the baker's leftover scrap dough put together in a ball covered with powdered sugar. It's marketed all over town, but not really impressive.

At Neuschwanstein, I think you can skip the "little" yellow castle. Not that big of a deal.

Let me know if you have any questions! Definitely one of the most moving experiences of my life!Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09168304517522499991noreply@blogger.com
