Those of you who have been reading this little blog for a while know that I've made it my personal quest to find unique and delicious eateries OTP. After all, I live in the suburbs now; why do my tastebuds always have to wander into the city?! My latest discovery is Alpine Bakery & Trattoria, located in the historic Crabapple district of Alpharetta. Alpine features classic Italian dishes for lunch and dinner. Their bakery is inspired by both traditional European cuisine and modern American fare. Baked goods are prepared on site daily. The restaurant also boasts an impressive wine list.
We started off with a loaf of the Parmagiano Black Pepper bread. The crispy exterior had a hint of garlic, and the inside was warm and soft.
So many of the appetizers sounded incredible, but I had to go with an old favorite: Mozzarella ala Caprese, prepared with heirloom tomatoes.
My husband had the evening's special, which was a lightly fried flounder over cappellini with a lemon beurre sauce.
For my entree, I had the Pappardelle Bolognese. The thick noodles were perfectly chewy, and soft goat cheese complemented the tender meat sauce.
I didn't think I had any room for dessert, but then there was this pound cake thing on the menu...
Yep, those are chocolate-covered strawberries. I think the whipped cream was topped with chocolate cake crumbs.
Obviously, I couldn't finish the dessert, but I think it was even better leftover the next day! After all, the pound cake did marinate in the strawberry juices overnight.
One thing that really impressed me about Alpine Bakery & Trattoria is that they offer whole wheat pasta substitution on any dish. They also offer gluten-free options on most dishes.
Alpine also offers catering services, and they recently renovated a beautiful patio, which is available for private parties. The atmosphere was romantic without being stuffy, family-friendly without being loud.
If you're looking for an opportunity to check this place out, try to stop by this weekend! They're serving a special Easter menu, which includes:
- Carrot Cream Soup
- Prosciutto Wrapped Egg
- Waldorf Ravioli
- 12 oz Lamb Chop
Have any of my fellow Atlantans out there had a chance to try this place?

It was all good, but Jessica, you hit the nail on the head. Two days later and I'm STILL thinking about that caprese!
