Welcome to another Freeky Friday! Today's topic:

Who is your pop culture alter ego?

Okay, so this topic is a little silly...but think about it. We all know that friend who reminds you of a character on Friends, and I definitely have more than one Elle Woods in my life! I can probably name pop culture alter egos for most of my loved ones, but choosing one for myself took a little more thought. Obviously, it had to be Disney. But who in the world is actually like a Disney character?

Answer: when that Disney character is a satyrical caricature of the typical Disney heroine.

Disney's Enchanted is about a wannabe princess from a fictional, animated, Disneyesque village called Andalasia, who becomes trapped in the New York City we know and love. What follows is ninety minutes of comedy designed purely for the true Disney fan. You know how Shrek spoofs the Disney Fairy Tale? Enchanted basically does that without fart jokes and while maintaining that warm and fuzzy feeling that Disney films are intended to convey. You might say I'm a fan.

Our heroine, the wannabe princess, is a maiden named Giselle. First of all, I love that name because it reminds me of one of my favorite ballets...though its plot is a bit darker than the average Disney film. This Giselle faces the challenge of adjusting to a non-animated world, in which her usual habits and mannerisms aren't socially acceptable.

Yeah...it's not exactly a cute woodland creature when you're in New York.

Here's what I love about her though: while adjusting to this new and crazy world, she manages to be herself. Sure, she tones it down a little bit, but that doesn't stop her from singing and dancing in the middle of Central Park...
