{via American Girl}
My American Girl doll, Felicity, was my source of entertainment for years and years. This was back when there were four American Girls. There was no American Girl of Today, and there certainly weren't any American Girl Place stores that offered tea party birthdays. I would know...because I would have been ALL. OVER. THAT.
Without further ado, here I am reminiscing about fond memories with my favorite toy!
What about you? What was your favorite childhood toy? Do you still have it? Or did you donate it or sell it?
We Vlog Friday. Do you?

WE ARE SO THE SAME PERSON. I had Samantha and Felicity was my second favorite and we were both around for simply the original four! I'm pretty sure these books are the reason I was a history major.
Le sigh. i love you.
You were a history major?! It's official. We are soulmates.
I definitely tried to comment via iPhone on Friday and it wouldn't work! Here goes:
Hands down, American Girl dolls were the most memorable toys of my childhood. I started devouring the books at age 7, and it made me start being the history nerd I am today... My mom being a reading teacher, she readily encouraged my fascination with this series- especially when I would discuss the books with her!
My mom sent away for an official American Girls "saving game" when I told her I wanted Samantha. It was a sticker puzzle- whenever you earned a certain amount of $ towards your goal (mine was $5), you got to put a new sticker puzzle piece on the board until it was complete. At age 7, my mom had me spending a whole summer doing extra chores around the house and paying me a few dollars each time. My parents finally chipped in half as my 8th birthday present in August.
I would spend most of my allowance and Christmas wish lists on Samantha outfits and accessories, but having that doll also contributed to my passion for crafts- my grandma taught me how to sew, and I practiced by making doll clothes. I still have all of my handmade shirts and dresses in a "closet" my mom made for Samantha (let's be real, that was $$$ from the catalog!). My friends and I used to spend hours swapping doll outfits and acting out all sorts of adventures- those are some of my favorite childhood memories. Playtime for kids that didn't involve technology! I have saved everything in hopes of one day passing it along to my future daughter as well.
Side note- I still subscribe to get the free catalog, just so I can reminisce about my younger years. The Holiday Catalog arriving in my mailbox still makes me giddy with excitement!
